The Roosters ran in 10 tries to four in their equal-best attacking performance away from home in the 110-year history of the club to ram home their spot in the competition's top four.

The result means they are just two points behind ladder leaders Melbourne, St George Illawarra and South Sydney with a comparable for-and-against after their biggest win of the season.

With a host of former players watching on for Golden Eagles day, the thumping was the first time Manly have conceded a half century at the ground since July 2004, and their worst defensive effort there since Canterbury also beat them 56-24 in 2003.

The win marked the Roosters' sixth in seven matches, but captain Boyd Cordner warned their best was still to come.

"Our goal is just really clear, everyone is on the same page now," Cordner said.

"This is the time of year you want to be playing footy and we want to be nailing down our preparation every week.

"We're not going to shy away. We still think we can be better but we're headed in the right direction."

The Tri-colours tore through the Sea Eagles at will, breaking the line 13 times with Daniel Tupou making light work of them on the left and Blake Ferguson scoring twice on the right.

Centre Latrell Mitchell also bagged a double, his first coming from a perfectly placed Cooper Cronk cross-field kick and his second when he bamboozled two defenders with his trademark step.

Jake Friend was also dominant out of dummy-half and was arguably the Roosters' best.

He provided the last pass for one of Ferguson's tries and grubbered for Lindsay Collins for their first points of the second half.

Boyd Cordner, Joseph Manu, Sio Siua Taukeiaho and James Tedesco also both crossed, with the latter finishing with 276 metres and four tackle busts.

"The boys didn't stray too far from what we wanted to do at any point," coach Trent Robinson said.

"They didn't get loose on any play, but it was varied enough that we continued to create opportunities in every 10-minute period."

Tom Trbojevic proved the only real resistance for Manly with three last-ditch tackles at the back, as he also scored once himself and set up another for Daly Cherry-Evans.

It was the Sea Eagles' fifth loss in a row at Lottoland - also their worst streak at the venue since 2004 - while they are now just one win clear of Canterbury Parramatta and North Queensland in the race to avoid the spoon.

"It looked like boys playing men today," coach Trent Barrett said.

"Disappointed is an understatement. That's not good enough. Just because you pull on a jumper it doesn't mean you're a first-grader."
