Under 6s
The cold wind and rain held out just long enough for the Harden Under 6s to complete its two games of soccer. Meeting some stiff competition from Gundagai they rallied as a team and played some very entertaining soccer, passing the ball and finding open ground on numerous occasions.
Sammy Dunstan and Darby Abnett controlled the edges well and both played great soccer in attack and defence.
Chase Peterson, Clair Corkhill, and Indigo Douglas owned the middle of the field. Every player scored at least one goal each which shows they are sharing the ball around and really enjoying themselves. Well done.!
Under 9s
It took half of the first game for the Under 9s to work out that when you play as a team you get better results. Gundagai was clearly the better team until they worked this out. Then they were awesome, putting together some nice plays and scoring some great goals. Tomas Mariani was slippery in attack and found the net numerous times. Flying winger Tommy Parker controlled his left side of the field showing great skills and awareness. Shelby Abnett and Corrine Howe are growing in confidence with each game they play. Art Bussenschutt again had a solid game turning with the right play nearly every time the ball came his way. Great work kids, teamwork is the key.
Team 12/13
Great teamwork and persistence paid off for the 12/13 team. Jade Emms led from the front, scoring all three of her team’s goals in a tough 3 - 2 win over Gundagai. Sandy Robb was tireless all game, as was Bella Paulissen, Regan Manton and Mikelle Rowe who were solid in the backline. The team continues to develop and play for each other.
Teams 14/15
The first of the 14/15 games saw the third-placed Harden side take on the last placed Gundagai team. Gundagai soon had Harden on the back foot, and they raced to a 2 - 0 lead midway through the first half. Harden continued to work hard, and while at first, nothing seemed to work for the locals, once they got themselves on the scoreboard, the side clicked into gear and raced away with a convincing 5 - 3 win. Best for Harden were Sharna Allen and Campbell Allen, who worked hard all game, and James Daley and Jess Bunt, who were solid in the backline, delivering an important win for Harden, who move into second place on the competition ladder.
The second 14/15 game saw the ladder leading SFM Spreading team take on the last placed Gundagai. Ladder position meant little on the day, however, as Gundagai handed Harden its first loss of the year with a 7 - 6 win over the locals. As the scoreline would indicate, the game was scrappy at best, as each team leaked goal after goal.
Harden just wasn't able to find their groove in the match and was constantly searching for an equalising goal as time and again they would draw level with their opposition, only to concede another goal.
Harden had its chances, yet its ability to finish cleanly saw them miss half a dozen or so goals that they would normally cash in on. Corey Doohan and Miguel Whittington continued to score plenty of goals between them, but the team will need to sharpen up if they are to remain on top of the ladder with some tough rounds in front of them.
