In blustery, cool conditions, high scores were not expected, nor for the most part were many returned. That is all except two pairs that went deep as though it was a summer’s day. John Brownhill decided to go low again having a blistering 41 individual points to help him and his partner up to a total of 47 points in the Four Ball.
This was enough to win the daily event by two shots from those wily championship veterans Bernie Parker and Ian Bruce who tallied 45 points for their day’s work. Bernie and Ian led off the day’s ball comp from Aaron Grieve and Tim Beveridge (44 points). Craig Filmer and Tam Kennedy then received a ball by leading off the also ranks at 41 points on a count back.
With Tim and Aaron dubious starters, it looks like a two-horse race at the moment between John and Matt, with Bernie and Ian six and four points clear of the field. Golf however is a funny game and results can swing by a mile depending on confidence. Round 2 is this Saturday.
Our individual winner for the day received his trophy as 4BBB winner (John Brownhill) so next up claimed the Individual Trophy on a countback, provided by our sponsors. Tim Beveridge also scored 41 points and was a grateful recipient of the Singles Trophy on the day. Nearest the pin or more likely at 8.18m, the only one to hit the green on our Bendigo Bank Hole in One Hole was John Brownhill who picked up a ball for his efforts.
Jim Wright Midweek King
Our Agronomist to the Stars is back in the winner’s circle again. In increasingly winter-like conditions, Jim Wright has blitzed the field to win by five shots midweek. Jim has shot 29 points, five better than the par 24, 12-hole layout. This was enough to have five shots deducted from his handicap and will resume duties next week only off 19.5.
Runners up on the results for the week managing par rounds were Marg Taylor and Ron Fuller Snr. Greg Heycox and Peter Steinke were best of the rest with 23 points. Our random ball winner for the week was Marj Manwaring.
This Week
