Wombat local Ben ‘Benny’ Smith tragically died recently after a farm accident with the 32-year-old’s family left in shock.

According to Ben’s family and friends he did the work of three men on his family’s farm near Wombat and had three great loves in his life; his children, his wife and a hard day’s work on the farm.

Ben’s passing has left his wife and three young children, who adored their father, shocked and devastated by the loss.

Ben’s friends have rallied around their mate’s family and have set up a GoFundMe page to try and raise $25,000 for the family to help with food, clothing, transport and the children’s education.

So far the page has raised a total of $16,708 through 125 generous donors with over $3,500 dollars raised in the first 24 hours of the page’s setup.

“Thank you to each and every one of you who has donated. Thank you for all the shares across all of your social media too,” author on the page Charles Brady posted.
