Police in the Hume Police District and across New South Wales are warning residents in Harden-Murrumburrah to be aware of a fake email doing the rounds to obtain personal information.

The email alleges it is from Netflix and that there are issues with the email holder’s account.

Unsuspecting victims then click on the link provided and are directed to a phishing site which mines for credit card and personal information leaving the account holder vulnerable.

A phishing site steals account passwords and other confidential information by allowing the user to believe they are on a legitimate website.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s scamwatch.gov.au website contains a list of scams which is continually updated, as well as ways to protect yourself and your information.
