SATURDAY’S bleak skies from pending rain and smoke did not deter a good field to contest the annual foray into the four ball best ball multiplier. It is an interesting team format designed to test teamwork skills and it is only apt that a good selection of trophies were put on for the individual and the teams events held in conjunction, by our hosts Craig and Toni Filmer of DA Busters Development Assistance Service.

The winners, Darrell Cassidy and Robert Bates, demonstrated years of teamwork, returning a highly respectable 74 points to account for joint second placed, the Manwarings and Chris Hocking and Brett Johnson. Both pairs recorded 66 and claimed balls in the ball comp as did Toni and Craig Filmer, who had 65.
Our daily individual winners were Herby Manwaring on a mighty fine 41 points, whilst his good wife Marj collected the ladies day winner after Mrs Filmer re-gifted her win to the field.
The Bendigo Bank hole in one did not go off, however the ball for nearest the pin went to Tam Kennedy who will be lost now having a white ball in his bag. Tam’s shot was an absolute ripper into the howling wind, coming to rest 3.18m from the pin.

EVERY three to four months Bill Kildea posts in the top three for about three weeks preceding a victory., however he surprised everyone and brought home a classic round to jump out and steal the lollies.
Bill has played nine shots better than his handicap and recorded a 33 stableford point round on the 12-hole par 24 point layout. Unfortunately Bill faced his reckoning with the handicapper and has now been slashed all of those nine shots, resuming duties next week on a mere 9.5 handicap.
Peter Steinke is on the slow climb back into the spotlight claiming second this week with a very tidy 27 points. Alan Hill and David James have shared third with respectable 25 or a shot better than their handicaps would suggest. It was a healthy field of 25 this week that faced the starter.
