The club's numbers are strong across all age groups, but an influx of younger players in particular means the club will be fielding extra teams this year, placing extra demand on their coaching ranks.
South West Slopes Soccer Association will continue with the Mini-roos format for 5 to 11 years again this year, where the focus remains on participation, game time, team work and skill development rather than out and out competition, and this means an easier environment for not only the players, but the coaches and officials as well.
Club President Greg Brown stresses that coaching is not necessarily difficult or only for those with a coaching qualification or playing experience. Coaching support is readily accessible through the SWSSA Development Officer, who provides face to face coaching tips and Grass-roots coaching courses throughout the season, providing even the novice coach with the resources needed for a fun and successful season.
Anyone interested in coaching this season, particularly in the 5 - 11 year age groups, are encouraged to contact President Greg Brown on 0408 229 450, Registrar Allison Manwaring on 0429 193 453, or contact the club through their Facebook page as soon as possible.
The SWSSA competition begins on May 5, and further information regarding the competition, teams and the upcoming meet and greet afternoon will be found on their Facebook page in the coming weeks.
