Hilltops Councilors decided at the February Council meeting five votes to four (two did not vote), to not renew general manager Anthony McMahon's contract.
In a letter to staff, Mr McMahon spoke fondly of his time on Council.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hilltops and the progress we have all made together since the formation of the council,” he said.
Mayor Brian Ingram said that it would be “business as usual” at the Council.
“Currently David Aber is the acting general manager and will remain in that position until Council appoints a permanent general manager,” Councillor Ingram said.
“The process of recruitment has started for both the GM and Director of Infrastructure positions, and I believe we have someone coming to fill the Infrastructure role next week on an interim basis, and that will ensure everything keeps rolling along.”
