The Harden branch of the Country Women’s Association (CWA) held their first event, a Trash and Treasure, on Saturday, March 10. The event was the first since the election of their new President, Margaret Thornhill, and by all accounts was a great success.

“We were pleasantly surprised and thrilled by the amount of community support it received.” Mrs Thornhill said. “ I can’t thank everyone enough for all their hard work to get the day organised, but I would like to say a special thank you to Deidre Farrell, Judy Penalurick and Heather Campbell. Without them, the day would not have happened.”
“The winner of the 100 Club raffle was Robyn Carroll, and the tea, coffee and cakes proved very popular throughout the day.”
The branch is looking at running more events throughout the year, including a ‘Spring Plant market day’ and a ‘craft market day’.
“To make our meetings more accessible to working women in the community we will be holding our next meeting at 7.30 pm on April 9 in the CWA Rooms Neill Street Harden.” Mrs Thornhill said. “We want to try and get some exciting things happening this year. After all, you know what CWA stands for – ‘Chicks with attitude’.
