Starting the afternoon off, Baldry was practicing his chipping and putting around the old bowling green, not taking too much notice, until all but one group had teed off.
He was allocated to that group yet such was his focus that he near missed the boat.
Good thing he didn’t though, recording a nice little 84 off the stick and with a handicap of 21. This left him at a career-best 63 nett or eight shots under his handicap.
Claiming our A Grade Medal and our A Grade Scratch this week was our pennant team’s secret weapon Matt Peisley. Peisley claims he left a few out there also which should be worrying for the field if the handicapper has not stitched him up after his 75 (4 over par) off the stick for a handsome 65 nett.
Balls went back to 70 points and, in a tough school, were awarded to: Eric Kuhn (66 nett), Larry Stephenson (66 nett), Darrell Cassidy (70 nett), Kevin Hoppe (70 nett), Peter Steinke (70 nett).
Our Bendigo Bank Hole in One did not go off however nearest the pin on this hole went to John Brownhill at 1.33m (or 4.5ft in old speak).
