Teacher Margaret Taylor is leading try-outs for a school concert band.
Ms Taylor has led and conducted concert bands in primary and secondary schools.
“The challenge is matching students to the right instrument,” Ms Taylor said.
“And then getting them to practise.”
Ms Taylor will provide musical tuition to students during lunch hour once a week.
The instruments have been loaned to the school by the Murrumboola Learning Community.
Principal Clare Crawford said it would be the first time in many years the school has had a band.
The school has a history of musical talent, with a Marimba group performing at the Sydney Opera House and during Floriade in Canberra.
“It’s an exciting iniative the school has been working towards for a number of years, we’’re glad it’s beginning in 2018,” Ms Crawford said.
It’s envisaged the band will perform at community and school events.
