Murrumbatemen won the toss forced the Hornets to bat first.
Harden’s captain Kai Steele said the Hornets simply didn’t make enough runs.
Daniel Pumpa top-scored with the bat scoring 30 of the team’s haul of 114 in 40 overs.
Murrumbatemen’s reply was to score 117 with the loss of just three wickets.
Steele said James Woodhead was the star of the Hornets.
The teenager bowled six overs, claiming two wickets for 16 runs.
Harden has the bye for this weekend, and no Sweeney Cup games will be played on the Australia Day weekend.
“We’ve got to start winning a few games to make the finals,” Steele said.
The Hornets will play the Aussie Pirates at Tim Doolan Oval on February 3.
