The staff were given notice earlier this week leading into the Christmas break.
Cootamundra Oilseeds general manager Marius Fourie confirmed four people had been made redundant this week.
Mr Fourie said it was part of “restructure” in the organisation brought about by improved technology.
“We’ve gained some efficiencies recently including digital accounting and seed handling,” he said.
Mr Fourie said the business was adopting a new platform to operate on.
He said there were still 22 people employed by Cootamundra Oilseeds, not including casual staff, who work across two sites dealing with organics and canola seeds.
It’s the second time an agricultural-based business in Cootamundra has made staff redundant this year – in February, the Manildra Group-owned abattoir closed and shed over 200 jobs.
Mr Fourie said Cootamundra Oilseeds would be closed over Christmas and would resume production on January 2.
