In the best of four preset rounds across the year, our winner was Peter Steinke, whom I think may have claimed this before in one of the past five years it has been run.

Peter is a stalwart of the midweek comp and with his occasional blitzing 12 hole scores, was a popular winner of this perpetual trophy honouring long standing mid-weeker Spencer Bulbeck on his passing.

The regular midweek competition was claimed by Larry Stephenson, a more recent addition to our ranks, venturing across from the Cherry Capital.

Larry triumphed on 27 points for the 12 hole, 24 stableford point layout.

Larry was docked three shots off his handicap and will resume duties in the new year on 16.

Graham Taylor and Garth Webb were runners up – one shot back on 26 points whilst Ron Kerr was again one shot back.

The John Dowd Memorial Trophy was played on Friday on a specially prepared 18 hole par three course. It was a four-ball aggregate in honour of our former neighbour and lovable larrikin Johnny. 

Winners on the day were Jim Wright & Garth Webb nett 96 with their stableford scores combined.  

Bringing home second place was the unlikely pairing of Marg Campbell and Mike McPake with 99.5 and third were June Spencer and Ron Kerr who had 103.5. 

MAKING his presence felt such that the handicapper notices is what Larry Stephenson has done this week by winning the midweek and the weekend double.

Larry has beaten his handicap by eight whole shots to record 44 points and win the Tegra Landscapes Trophy.

It was a hot day on course judging by the excellent scoring recorded. One would have needed to have played six better than their handicap to potentially not even get a ball in a countback.

Balls went to Kevin Hoppe on 43 who shot a round of one over par 72 for 43 points, Matt Piesley on 42, Matt’s beau Mel Brownhill also on 42 points, and Darrell Cassidy who again shot 42. 

Whilst the Bendigo Bank Hole in One did not go off, an absolute cracker of a shot by Mel Brownhill to 2m from the pin scored the Nearest the Pin. I think it may not be long until a large account is opened at our local branch of the Bendigo Bank for some lucky member.
