Saturday Mixed Pairs Quarter Finals:
Craig Phillis and Ann Marie Phillis defeated David Walker and Pat Walker 25 to 10.
At the halfway mark in this match, the score was nine all. Over the next three ends Craig and Ann Marie increased their lead to 17 to 9. David and Pat picked up one shot on the 14th end to make the score 17 to 10.
From this point on, it was all Craig and Ann Marie as they raced away to an easy win. David and Pat played some nice bowls, but on the day found Craig and Ann Marie just too good.
Craig and Ann Marie will now play Terry and Jenny Ricketts in the semi-final on a date to be fixed.
Sunday Mixed Pairs Semi Finals:
Tom Apps and Robyn Apps defeated Chris Hocking and Kelly Daley 21 to 17.
It took Tom and Robyn right up until the 17th end before they were able to get the better of Chris and Kelly, who were playing very well. It was a close match throughout the game, up until the point where Tom and Robyn got a seven shot break and were able to hang on in a tough match.
Tom and Robyn will now play the winner of the Craig and Ann Marie v Terry and Jenny Ricketts match in the final.
Mufti Bowls Sunday:
Rod James, Warwick Prosser and Matt Quinn defeated Shane Mckellar, Derek Heywood and Braydn Jurd 20 to 5
Shane, Derek and Braydn were the winners of the chooks.
Craig Cooper, Tony Deverson and Danny Vincent defeated Tony Zervos, Neil Turner and Danny Vincent 20 to 3.
Christmas Celebrations
Last Saturday, the Harden Bowling Club held it’s Christmas Party. It was very well attended and members and their guests enjoyed a few drinks and a BBQ.
The Monster raffle was drawn and there were too many winners to mention, but the major prize of a huge lawn mower was won by that lovely lady June Howe. So it is into the lawn, June!
As this is the last bowls news for 2017, I wish all the members at the club a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.
The bowling green will be out of play from next Sunday for about eight days for renovation.
