With the quality rounds Darrell has produced lately surely it is only a matter of time before he returns to a single figure handicap.
The ball competition saw balls distributed to Tim Beveridge 41 points, then a quartet with 39 points, Brian Wales, Eric Kuhn, Rick Preston and the only lady competitor, Alexa Preston.
Alexa delighted in showing up the boys on the Bendigo Bank hole-in-one tenth hole with a great shot which finished only 70cm from the hole.
From March until November members competed in an eclectic competition with lowest scores on each hole being recorded. Kevin Hoppe with 16 birdies and two pars won the event with a fine 55 scratch.
Joint runners-up, albeit 5 shots behind Kevin, were Darrell Cassidy, Craig Filmer and Peter Steinke each with 60 scratch.
The nett division was won by Tim Beveridge with a brilliant 43 nett. Joint runners-up were Ron Page and Tam Kennedy each with 46 nett.
Interestingly only two eagles were recorded during the competition but there were 98 birdies. The third hole lived up to its ranking as Harden’s hardest hole with only one birdie recorded.
Coming events
This Saturday the members will compete for a club trophy by contesting a stableford event. Keep in mind Sunday week’s Scott Fuller Shield round one at our home track. A starter sheet is available at the club and the organizing committee’s job is made easier if names are submitted prior to the day of the event.
Mid week golf
The mid-week golfers last week had their first morning hit off for the duration of the warmer weather, but Wednesday’s cool breezy morning came as a bit of a shock to most players.
Ron Fuller kick started his round with a first hole birdie and carried on with the job to compile an impressive 31 points. Ron is now sneaking close to ‘A’ grade with his new handicap of 13.
Next best scores were the 27 points by David James and Ian Bruce. Both these players are working up to a win in the near future.
