Our leading A Grader at present just keeps on dropping in the consistent scores more weeks than not. Form and consistency has triumphed for Kevin in a format some feel is not suited to A Graders being the individual stableford. Kevin has prevailed with a score 6 better than his handicap in the Saturday event and has claimed the Damian Shea GutterVac Trophy against a solid field. Kevin’s 42 point yield was just enough to edge out the in form Scotsman, Tam Kennedy to take the chocolates. As stated, Tam Kennedy came runner up and led the ball comp with his 42 points. Other balls for the day went to Eric Kuhn (40pts), Rick Preston (40 pts), and Ron Kerr (39 pts).
In the Bendigo Bank Whopper Account Hole in One Stakes, it still has not gone off. Fantastic sponsorship and publicity value our Community Bank is getting because nobody can shove it in the hole. Instead, our nearest the Pin for the men went to Rick Preston at 3.4m and Rick claims a ball for his efforts.
Marj weaves her magic
The Ladies too played a Stableford event on Saturday and Marj Manwaring powered her way home for the win again with a rock solid 41 points. Runner-up was the tried and true in Jeanette Elliott who again played to her handicap and had 36 stableford points to claim a ball.
A visitor who is like an almost local in Sharon Knight, put in her claim at the Bendigo Bank Whopper Account and pulled up a mere 1.5m short of the hole to claim a ball. It was good also to see Pat Walker and June Spencer up and playing and socialising with the field respectively, all getting the band back together.
Marj also wins midweek
Mrs Manwaring has put together a special round through the week in the 12 hole 24 point stableford layout. She merely beat her handicap by a whole 7 shots. The worst part about a midweek round is that they take all of the points you beat your handicap to win, away from you. In beating her handicap by 7 whole shots, Marj will resume on the still inflated 26.5 next week.
If you have been following the coverage of midweek for the last few months it will not take you long to work out who was bridesmaid again. Mike McPake took equal 2nd and equal 3rd this week having played on both days. Equal 2nd was June Spencer and David James with 2nd being 30 points. Mike shared 3rd place honours with Graham Taylor on 29 points. Hurry up and win one Mike.
This week
This Easter Saturday there will be a good fun event. Craig and Toni Filmer will be hosting a 4BBB Mixed Medly Stableford Multiplier. Grab a partner, rock on up at lunch time and lets multiply yours and your partners points to see who can be the most consistent pairing. Remember a 5 point birdie multiplied by a quadruple bogey wipe = duck egg for that hole. Any points are valuable.
