Sibelco has continued their contribution to the local community by donating $25,000 to the Harden District Education Foundation (HDEF), a non-profit organisation that supports local kids in pursuing their post high school educational and career aspirations.

Prem Chand, Regional Operations Manager at Sibelco, presented the cheque to Charlotte Middleton, President of the HDEF and teacher at Murrumburrah High School on Thursday, October 26.
“We are very grateful to Sibelco for their continued support and thank them for another significant donation. and, due to this generosity, a number of students have benefited.” Mrs Middleton said.
“The cost of rural students transitioning to their post high school education and careers is often far greater than students living in metropolitan areas. This donation will go a long way in providing support for education or job-related expenses, ranging from textbooks and computers to the accommodation costs associated with moving away from home, as well as continuing to support Outward Bound, which benefits local students in years 9 and 10.” Mrs Middleton said
The Harden District Education Foundation is a branch of the Country Education Foundation (CEF) which helps rural and regional communities to establish their own local education foundations. Starting with a single foundation in Boorowa in 1993 the CEF family has grown into a network of more than 40 education foundations operating across Australia.
Sibelco, a material solutions company with a Lime/Limestone quarry and processing plant at Galong, has assisted a number of community groups and projects in Harden and the surrounding areas.
“We’re committed to supporting the communities in which we operate, particularly education initiatives, and are proud to be supporting the HDEF for the third year in a row. We recognise the great work that the HDEF does to assist local youth in the challenging transition from high school to further educational and career opportunities.” Mr Chand said
The Harden District Education Foundation fundraises throughout the year and accepts donations from local businesses and residents in order to provide financial grants to students who need an extra helping hand.
