OUR reigning champion for the majority of the last 40 years has done it again. Fighting seven seasons across the three days of competitions and battling away against her fellow competitors, Jeanette Elliott has put in an aggregate below her handicap to pick up both the A Grade (Club Championship) title and also the best nett result (after handicap is deducted) for the total after three rounds.

Jeanette continues to improve each year as marked by her single figure handicap and her continued success at this and regional forums.
On Day two of the three round format last Saturday, Jeanette has put in a round as good as any she has shot in recent years. Jeanette has shot 77 off the stick which is just three over par on the ladies 74 shot layout to record a magic round. This round included a first 9 of 1 under par before leaking four in her second round. The second last day is moving day and this is exactly where Jeanette has blitzed the field. She even took the days trophy for Saturday on a countback from Alexa Preston who also shot a very handy 69 nett.
Day three came around and so too did the gale force winds, the rain and the anti-golf conditions. All players suffered and scoring was way higher. Our champion slipped by 10 shots on her round from the day before, but was shielded for the win by her exceptional round one and two scores finishing with an aggregate nett of three better than her handicap. Alexa turned the day two tables around and claimed day three with by far the best nett score of the field for a 76 nett.
Our champion was Jeanette, who also claimed the Ness Flanery Memorial Trophy for the best three round nett score. Runner-up was was Ev Shea. Well done to all of the ladies who braved this array of seasonal golf that was unprecedented.

THE perennial bridesmaid from earlier this season has cracked the code and in recent months has decided to make a welter of it. Mike McPake has done it very well in David James style with a modest 28 point win on the par 24 point 12 hole layout our midweekers play. Mike has lost four shots and will resume next week on 15.
David James came second after his tradesman like victory last week. David proved that taking away four shots does not cause you enough grief to come at the field again directly, when in form. David’s two better than handicap 26 points was quite impressive so soon after last week’s deduction.
Coming in third was Grahame Taylor, Val Kerrison, and setting up his weekend with a midweek practice was Ian Clarke-Bruce on one better than handicap of 25.
