The second half was just as tough and close with good tagging by Shania McKinnon, Heidi O'Connor and Hayley Hambrook. The Bushhawks were close to scoring several times but Young kept up the pressure and forced mistakes by Harden.
With only a minute to go Georgia Squire-Wilson got a good break and used her speed to score a crucial try. She was then able to successfully convert. Next week - the grand finals – go Bushhawks!
THE Caltex and Courthouse under 11s played on home turf on a very cold windy Saturday morning, the boys had trained extremely well during the week, knowing they were in for a game against the minor premiers Cootamundra.
The Bushhawks came out firing, however Bullpups crossed first close to the line.
The game then went back and forth and after a while the young Bushhawks got some field position and Brody Steele showed great awareness and strength to jump out of dummy half and crash over under the posts. The try was converted and scores were level.
Some smart play saw Harvey Gay break through the line and gave a nice pass to Jake Café, who scored in the corner, going into the break 12.6.
In the second half the boys dominated field position and Harvey Gay took a quick tap 10m out after a penalty and never looked like being stopped crashing over under the sticks. The kick was converted and the flood gates opened up; Bushhawks put the foot on the throat starving the Bullpups’ and two good 60m runs by Dan Canellis and Josh Dean, crossing the try line, put the game beyond doubt with conversions extending the healthy lead.
Ty Leitner got himself a meat pie taking the final score to 34-6, to the make the grand final on Saturday at Young.
