“I am standing in this council election because I want to make sure that Harden and Boorowa are properly represented in the new Hilltops Council.” Mr Flanery said. “I am not afraid to speak up if it looks as though they are being left behind.”
“Young is a much bigger town and it concerns me that all our services could be centralised in Young. I intend to make sure that does not happen and that Harden and Boorowa are well catered for, especially our elderly residents.”
Mr Flanery said that he and his wife Samantha are very community minded and only employ locals on their family farm.
“Agriculture is the number one industry in the Hilltops region, it generates an income of $350 million dollars per year.” Mr Flanery said. “It needs to be our primary focus to generate job creation and opportunities for our young people.”
“We want them to be proud of the region they come from, and want them to return to Hilltops to raise their own families here.”
Mr Flanery said that he is a firm believer in accountability in council administration and that it is important that all Councillors and Council staff are willing to work to get the best outcome for ratepayers.
“There is no room for negativity, it is important that we all want the region to grow.” Mr Flanery said. “Ratepayers should feel comfortable talking to Councillors about any issues they may have.”
“Harden has a lot to offer and it is important that we let everyone know.”
