Shane McKellar, John Peterson and John Baker defeated Craig Phillis, Alan Tobin and David Walker with a score of 25 to 13. Shane and his team got away to a good start to lead ten to nil after six ends had been played. Craig and his team were playing catch up bowls from then on and were never able to catch up, as Shane an his boys went on to win easily.
Rod James, Reuben Rycroft and Tony Zervos defeated John Curtis, John Balcomb and Mick Patterson with a score of 34 to 9. Rod and his team were far too good for John’s team. They got away to a big lead early in the match and John’s team never looked likely to run them down, as Rod and his boys went on to an easy win.
Graham Murray, Cary Peters and Doug Hawkins defeated Tony Fisher, Peter Burns and Brian Gibson with a score of 25 to 19. An even match over the first 11 ends, with both teams level at 11 all. Over the next four ends, Tony and his team scored six shots to Graham’s one, to lead 17 to 12. However, over the next four ends, there was a complete turnaround as Graham and his team picked up ten shots to race away with a five shot lead at 22 to 17, with two ends to play.
Tony made it 22 to 19 on the second last end, then on the last end, his team made it 25 to 19 when they picked up three shots.
Tom Apps, Chris Hocking and Warren Chesworth defeated Terry Ricketts, Barney Heywood and Maurice Muller 27 to 16. Tom and his team established a big lead early in the match and it was going to take a big effort from Terry and his team to run them down.
They did play some nice bowls, but had given away too much start and were unable to catch up and went down by 11 shots.
