ONCE again, the tough winter conditions prevailed and as seems to be the case of late, one golfer emerges from the pack to post a great score.

This week it was Rick Preston’s turn and it is really no surprise that the secret weapon of our club pennants team is ripening in form, even more, just before the final.
Rick has recorded a round five shots better than his handicap to record 41 stableford points.
This score was enough to street the field by three points to take out the trophy kindly donated by Peter Steinke.
Runner-up, and leading off the ball comp, was Craig Henman who is returning to form just before club championships are due.
Balls also went to Ben Glover (37), Graham Martin-Dye (35), Kyle Murray (35) and Ian Bruce (35).
The Bendigo Bank Hole in One did not go off this week but our nearest the pin was taken out by Preston at 4.68m.

OUR former vet to the stars, Graham Taylor, has put together the form round this midweek and claimed the goodies.
Graham shot a score six shots better than his handicap and the par score of 24 points for the midweek 12 hole layout.
Graham now wipes the whole six shots off his handicap and now resumes transmission this week on 13.5 which should put some pressure on his play.
Not happy with a first, Graham has also backed himself and come up trumps with an Exacta, returning the second best score for the week as well.
His 27 point round took second place and some were wondering whether three more deductions would be in order on the handicap.
Ron Kerr was good for third with 26 points, whilst David James, Ron Fuller Snr and Bill Kildea took 4th with 24 points.

OUR two highest eligible local event winners went to Young last Sunday for the regional final, the winners of this to go on to the state final at Bonville near Coffs Harbour.
As has said before, it seems odd to qualify in five degrees mid winter on the South West Slopes, in order to go to the final in November at Coffs in 35 degree heat.
Well the wind was icy, the course played long and the greens were slick.
Scoring was at an absolute premium and the Hraden pairings of Tim Beveridge and Ron Kerr managed +3, whilst Ron page and Craig Filmer could not hold their front 9 +3, finishing square after 18.
Well we thought the scoring was tough bringing home playing partners in each group who could not even muster square. Then we got to the club house.
Young Club pairing of Stuart Norton and Sam Langford qualified for Bonville with a whopping +9 in the tough conditions.
White flags from our crew gents, do the SWDGA proud and win the final.
