Players descended on the very well presented Harden Country Club from Yass, Young, Cootamundra, Temora, and Harden.
The colder weather of late and a sneaky breeze out of the south-west conspired to make the course a good honest test on Sunday for the men’s tournament.
Playing at or about your handicap would mean you would be in the mix, as the final scorecards were reviewed.
Popular personality and South West District Golf secretary, John Blackman, took out the lead honours this year. John shot a very handy one over par 72 off the stick to claim the prize from his fellow clubman and budding younger colleague Lachlan Deep, only a shot behind him with 73.
John’s name goes up on our honour roll with some of the legends of South West Golf who continue to support our tournament year in, and year out.
In B Grade this year, local player Peter Steinke put away some early average holes, bringing it home with a strong back nine to claim this division with an 81.
Another former local familiar with our track snuck in behind Peter, two shots back with 83, in Ken Alexander.
A Grade Nett winner: Todd Elliott, 68. A Grade Stableford winner: Mark Barrie 38. A Grade NTP 10th Hole: Ben Glover 134cm. B Grade Nett winner: Ron Page 67. B Grade Stableford winner: Bernie Parker 37. B Grade NTP 10th Hole: Craig Filmer 3.43m.
