In the April madness of Fourballs held each year at Harden Country Club, the second event was held last Saturday requiring teamwork to prevail over occasional independent excellence like normal fourball stableford competitions. Whilst the name is a shocker, the uniqueness of the event is why defending Club Champion Ben Glover and his comrade Graham Williams introduced and continue to sponsor this event each year.

Michael McPake and Ron Kerr, two of our most consistent senior golfers have led the rest of the field on a merry dance. The best of their lesser stableford scores for the day amounted to 33 points, and to take out the days event. Heaven help us as to what their normal 4BBB score was if this was their worst ball score.
Mick and Ron were triumphant by a mere 1 point over Dad and Son-In- Law team of Peter Elliott and Jamie Cantrill. Pete and Jamie’s 32 points was a great outing and led off the ball comp. Also claiming balls were Tim Beveridge playing with a random field swinger (32 points), the indefatigueable team of Matt PEISLEY (hope its right this week) and John Brownhill (29 points), followed by Ian Bruce and Bernie Parker who also had 29 points.
Our days individual winner was Tom Poole who belted a very impressive 44 points around the links. It would appear that he could not drag Dan around any harder to not figure in the worst ball results as together they only mustered up 25 team points. The Nearest the Pin as a result of the Bendigo Bank Whopper Account Hole in One nor being claimed was Peter Steinke at 2.19m. A special mention must go to Ron Byrne and Peter Orr who amassed a worstball score of 10 points. By rights not getting 18 points should have earned the boys a nudey run around the 18th ….. or maybe not.
