Cootamundra highway patrol officers initially stopped the B-double at Jugiong around 7.30pm on Thursday after radar indicated it was travelling well above the signposted 100km/h speed limit.
Further checks of the truck revealed a number of defects, police said.
An inspection of the rig revealed an alleged faulty weld in the connection between the trailers.
The driver, a 50-year-old man from Constitution Hill, had also failed to comply with completing his log book as required, police allege.
Officers issued the driver with a number of infringement notices.
