The RFS says all header and farm machinery activities in cereal crops should be stopped and “good judgment” used in canola crops.
The NSW RFS Southern Border Team is also requesting farmers to exercise extreme caution in performing grain harvesting operations in the Eastern Riverina due to the current and forecast weather conditions.
A Total Fire Ban has been declared for the Eastern Riverina and Lower Central West Plains, which incorporates Albury, Bland, Coolamon, Greater Hume, Junee, Lockhart, Temora and Wagga shires. This is ahead of the high winds expected later this morning.
Both regions are enduring severe fire danger ratings.
