Acheiving a black belt was the last thing on his mind.
Five years later, Steve has successfully graded to his black belt and earned the title of ‘Sensei’ at the KRMAS National Camp at Port Macquarie on August 26 to 28.
“The journey to this point has been filled with challenges, dedication, focus and hard work but is something that I have found very addictive and rewarding,” Mr Rowan said.
“Every grading made me want to work harder to reach the next belt and I was thrilled when, after completing all of the grading criteria, I was asked to challenge for my black belt.”
“Over the last five years I have learned so much, regained my fitness and made some great friends,” Mr Rowan said.
“I owe so much of my success to the amazing people I found within our Kumiai Ryu family.”
