At the YLAD Living Soils 14th Annual Field Day on Thursday, September 15, there will be an emphasis on working from the soil up and monitoring it from the sky down! Now is the best time to capitalise on increasing carrying capacity and overall animal health with improved nutritious pastures and advanced monitoring technologies to track your results. New technologies being used in agriculture, such as microbial identification and satellite technologies will help farmers lift pasture production and carrying capacity with assurance.

Simon Abbott from Landgate WA will attend the Field Day to step farmers through the applications and uses of the Space Plus® Technology. Space Plus® is a high resolution Satellite Technology that obtains the latest pasture production estimates at paddock and whole farm level. Developed by Landgate (University of WA) with farmers, this technology delivers pasture information directly to growers to help make decisions on stocking rates, feeding budgets and fertiliser applications.
A quality pasture can only truly be achieved via balanced nutrition and biology found in a healthy soil. These areas will be covered by Rhonda Daly well known to many, for her wisdom on the relationship between soil health, plant health and animal health. Rhonda will shorten the path to achieving robust pasture production by teaching you how to thoroughly re-mineralise soils and introduce soil biology.
Dr Ash Martin from Microbiology Labs S A who will provide you with a full understanding the functional microbial groups, their role and how to manage them for maximum efficiency in contributing to soil, pasture and compost health.
