A new chapter in the life and times of Harden Murrumburrah took effect on Tuesday evening as the new Hilltops Council Administrator, Wendy Tuckerman, presided at an extraordinary meeting held at the former Harden Shire Council chambers.

Assisting Ms Tuckerman at the meeting, was interim general manager Anthony McMahon and the interim deputy general manager David Aber, formerly Young Shire Council’s interim general manager.
A number of former Harden Shire councillors were in attendance including former Harden mayor John Horton, Matthew Stadtmiller, Tony Flanery, Chris Manchester and Cathy Sanderson as well as other members of the public more than likely from from Young, Boorowa and Harden.
After welcoming everyone who was present, Ms Tuckerman made mention that the meeting was in fact “a historic moment”, naturally due to it being the very first one of its kind for the newly formed Hilltops Council.
Early on in the meeting, Tuckerman paid tribute to the traditional custodians of the land and singled out staff for working extremely hard so that the extraordinary meeting could eventuate just twelve days after a decision was announced to merge the old Harden, Young and Boorowa Shires.
She then thanked former mayor Horton and all the other ex-councillors including those of the old Young and Boorowa shires for their contribution to local council over their respective tenures.
Names of all who have passed away over the past month were also read out and a minute silence was observed as a mark of respect for the recently deceased.
In the open forum section, Barbara Beveridge made a presentation to the council on behalf of Blantyre Farms owner directors Michael and Edwina Beveridge (her son and daughter-in-law).
Michael and Edwina were an apology at the meeting and Barbara made a presentation. Essentially Barbara spoke about being pleased with the process which was taken by the former Harden Shire Council.
She wished the De Mestre family well for building their daughter Christie’s house on the ‘Carnbrae’ property, however objected however object to condition 12 and requested an increase to the set back on the Northern boundary from 50m to 200m.
The house dwelling DA at ‘Carnbrae’, Lot 77 DP75390, Eulie Road, Harden was subsequently approved by council (as recommended).
