2016 shapes as a big year for the Harden Murrumburrah community and there are some key dates coming up which people should be aware of particularly with regard to the imminent amalgamations. mayor John Horton has spoken passionately about how the residents of the town need to get behind the council so that the best possible outcome can be achieved.

The high majority of Harden people have openly stated that it is largely their preference to continue merging with Cootamundra even if means going in with Gundagai also.
On December 18 last year the State Government Fit for Future proposal came out that Harden were to amalgamate with Young and Boorowa to form the Hilltops Shire Council.
On Tuesday, February 2 at 6pm the Harden Shire Council will hold a last minute town meeting at the Mechanics Institute in Neill Street. The purpose of the meeting is to consider the community response to amalgamation proposals and is open for everyone to come.
Then on Friday, February 5 (9am-12pm) the state government will hold a public enquiry meeting at the Harden Country Club. A reminder that anyone who wishes to attend this meeting needs to register.

The registration also includes a section for those wishing to speak at the meeting.
Members of the public can also make written submissions up to the February 28, 2016.
Those who would like go, but need a hand registering can go to the Harden library where Sharon Hawkins is only more than too happy to assist.
