The B-double car carrier, with BMW vehicles on board, was completely lost as firefighters from the Jugiong and Berremangra brigades worked to make the highway safe once more.
Detectives are currently on scene to establish a cause of the blaze.
Traffic is being diverted from the Hume Highwy onto the Burley Griffin Way way through Cootamundra and Harden while emergency services carry out their investigations.
No injuries were sustained in the fire with both drivers getting out of the truck safely.
The follows another truck fire on the Hume Highway near Jugiong in October this year, where a clothing truck caught alight.
