A stormy sometimes wet weekend with a lot of noise and lightning and a long period of rain on Sunday night following another extremely noisy hour or so.

The garden has perked up considerably, the flowers obviously loved it. Not so the dog.
How do make you make the dog go outside when it is wet? Obviously the little dears do not appreciate getting their feet wet.
A blackout for about an hour on Saturday afternoon was rather a nuisance and had a few people hunting for candles.
The ladies with their beautiful art and quilt show at Bookham also had to endure the blackout. My friends and I were lucky, we managed our afternoon tea about five minutes before everything went off.
Another reminder how dangerous the trees on the side of the road can be. It was a small branch covering half the Bookham road on Saturday but coming on it suddenly meant veering to the right to avoid tangling with it (fortunately no one was coming the other way) but the car that was travelling almost in my boot all the way from the main road needed to brake suddenly.
The trees along the Bookham road are nowhere near the size of those overhanging the Boorowa road. I almost say a prayer every time I travel that road and after rain I think I would not venture there at all. I guess there will not be any action until something really bad happens.
Does anyone else think that the T V stations are treating us like fools, especially the ABC. Most days I have counted up to 13 repeats. The others channels aren’t much better. Having just installed a larger TV I really wonder why. And I wonder what all that money is spent on. Probably the numerous radio stations which seem to be the only ones clear enough to listen to at night.
Another former local has passed away recently. Hank Stevenson, who has been a resident at Linton for many years, died last week. Hank was a shearer around this district for a long time years ago. Sympathy goes to his family.
My other half, Don, belied his age last week when he became practically airborne when going the one step at the back door. The reason? A friendly brown snake who had come to visit. It wasn't a big one but it was a big shock. Makes gardening a bit scary.
There are quite a few houses for sale in Binalong at the moment. They all seemed to come on the market at the same time.
The school scene is busy as usual. In the school bulletin, Mr Bennett tells us that the first kinder orientation session very well with “no tears, at least from the students”. The school photos were taken on Friday.
The phone system is still causing trouble with a technician attributing the problem to storm damage. New adult chairs are to be delivered this week for use at the assemblies in the hall.
A reminder that there will be an assembly this Thursday. Students and parents are asked to wear green clothing to show support for Gonski, which tries to make certain that all kids can enjoy a quality education.
The infants classes had fun on Tuesday, Melbourne Cup Day, with fancy hats and fun activities in the playground.
