The Riverina Local Land Services 2015-16 Funding Program was launched at the Henty field days last week and expressions of interest can be made by completing the “How Can We Help You” form, available from all Riverina LLS offices and website.
With $827,500 from the NSW Government through its Catchment Action NSW and $1.4 million from the Australian Government through the National Landcare Programme, Riverina Local Land Services is offering more than 15 different projects.
Riverina Local Land Services general manager Rob Kelly said it was demonstrating its commitment to the local community by building this program from the ground up with three theme areas: Natural Landscapes, Productive Farms and Community Grants.
“All six Riverina Community Advisory Groups had input into the development of the funding program and the 15 projects reflect the customer focus of Riverina LLS, so that programs are relevant and targeted”, he said.
“This combined investment will inject $2.2million into local economies and help support regional businesses who provide products and services to local farmers and community groups”, he added.
Tom White, Team Leader Land Services - Upper Riverina area, advised that there were a number of projects targeted to the local government areas of Young, Cootamundra, Harden, Gundagai and Tumut.
“We are offering funding for some specific projects in the upper area, such as paddock tree restoration and recovery, integrated native vegetation management (gully revegetation, rabbit control and protecting vegetation near creeks, native vegetation corridors); and stock management areas to reduce pressure on ground cover in dry times.”
Landholders and community groups are asked to register their interest in Round One of funding by October 31, 2015 by completing the “How can we help you” form on the Riverina LLS website.
