Already many residents from local churches, schools, different organisations and thoughtful individuals have been busy packing special shoe-boxes for this inspiring, heartfelt project.
Every year generous people across the world, pack shoe-boxes with simple gifts, for kids in underprivileged countries who have nothing.
Things to pack in the shoe-boxes, might include practical items such as clothing, personal hygiene items whilst school stationery is always well received.
Others may wish to send leisure items such as a toys and dolls, a tennis ball, skipping rope or even marbles just to name a few.
To add a nice touch, those who are packing the shoe-boxes are encouraged to include a personal letter and a photo.
Not only is a box full of fun and full of practical items which will be very useful at Christmas time, but a box full of love and hope which has the ability to impact lives within that community including the child bearing the gift.
Imagine the joy of a child who has never received a gift before lifting the lid of a box overflowing with gifts just for them.
There will be an official 2015 Operation Christmas Child launch for the region to be held in Young at 6pm on Friday 7th August beginning at 7-9 Lovell Street in the CWA Rooms with ACT/Southern NSW Regional Manager Deepa Obed as the guest speaker.
Locals are encouraged pick up brochures and pre-printed shoe-boxes from Barnes Store Emporium and Cafe at 356 Albury Street Murrumburrah, although any shoe-box which is no larger than A4 paper size can be used.
