Club president Jason Pollard was particularly upset for both the players and the supporters.
“It’s disappointing, but there is nothing we can do about it, so we just have to get on with it and make the most of our situation.”
It is most frustrating for the Hawks who were due to play in specially designed pink jumpers raising money and awareness for breast cancer and Can Assist.
Both teams will train this afternoon in the hope of maintaining some form and fitness.
“Nothing beats game conditions, but we will try and do as much match simulation as possible,” said Pollard.
Whilst the Hawks and Hawkettes will receive the points and both sit on top of their respective ladders, it is a chance for players from either team suffering any niggling injuries, to freshen up and get themselves right, although the Hawks had a bye two weeks ago and the Hawkettes have one in a fortnight so it is not ideal at this time of year.
Tonight is the club highlight of the social calendar and major fundraiser of the year, the Mock Debutante Ball.
According to the club president, the function which will be held at the Mechanics Institute Hall in Neill Street Harden, promises to be a good night.
“It’s a great night and everyone always has a great time,” said Pollard.
The music for the evening will be provided by Catch Fraze.
There will also be several items up for auction tonight at the ball including a fully signed Country Jumper, Canberra Raiders Jumper and all the mens pink Harden Hawks playing tops.
