Mr Cooper said that he has a very loyal clientele base, with both locals and city folk continuing to regularly purchase his meat, due to the quality and affordability that he provides.
A strong advocate of shopping locally, he sponsors several of the sporting clubs and organisations within the twin towns.
“We haven’t noticed any real difference in traffic as yet,” he said, before adding that he is feeling the pinch on the margins, due very much to keeping his prices the same as they were before.
Working off the premise that “some margin is better than no margin,” the lifelong Harden resident suggested that, “you have to be careful that you don’t over-price yourself.”
As for what the immediate future holds, the Harden butcher remains optimistic about the beef industry and suggests that, “just like anytime where there is a supply and demand issue, we just need to weather the storm. People still need to eat well,” he said.
