A voluntary mentoring initiative of the Sydney Chamber Orchestra, the Wollondilly-based program currently has three orchestras who regularly perform concerts for the community.
The students were a long way from the big city two weeks ago though when they played for the community and students from Wallendbeen, Stockinbingal and Murrumburrah Public Schools.
The orchestra of 27 students performed a range of classical and modern songs on the violin, viola, cello and double bass, the latter proving the most popular instrument.
Some students also had the opportunity to conduct the orchestra, a welcome addition to an enjoyable day out.
