Maddie Douglass, Year 11, and Emma Manwaring, Year 9, were both part of the Riverina soccer team that competed in the Bathurst state championships at the end of April.
The experience came just in time for the team mates to kick off their season here with the Harden Light Horse under 16s.
It was Maddie’s second time in the Riverina side and Emma’s first, although Emma is no stranger to representative duties.
Just a few days after the state soccer championships she was in Mudgee for the NSW CHS girls 15s touch championships.
The Riverina side played 13 games over two days, their mammoth effort earning them a fourth consecutive top four finish, but Emma is hoping to go one better next year.
For the rest of this season though she has transferred her touch skills to league tag with the Harden Hawkettes, whilst school mate Lane Gaudie is playing for the undefeated Cootamundra Bulldogs under 18s.
Clearly a multi-talented footballer, Lane was part of the CHS Riverina rugby team that competed in Wagga last week and won a thrilling 16-15 plate final.
Sadly classmate Johno Davis, who also made the team, was unable to compete due to a neck injury.
Year 11 students Emily Banks, Meg Perceval and Emma James were all part of the Riverina volleyball team that competed in the state carnival held in Temora.
“It was intense but it was fun,” Emily said.
“It was a good environment, the school students there came and watched so it made for a great atmosphere.”
The girls have all represented in volleyball before and are looking forward to their next opportunity.
Congratulations also to Jared Prosser on his selection in the Presidents XIII Rugby League team to participate in the NSW CHS selection trials at Myuna Bay on Sunday May 24, and to Will Manwaring and Tyler Allen for their selection in the Riverina CHS soccer team competing next week.
