The Devils were on fire from the get-go, scoring the first try against Junee within the first two minutes.
Harden went home victorious, defeating Junee 22-17.
While the game doesn’t technically count towards a premiership, as the Harden Rugby Union Club has not entered a team in the 2015 competition, local players relished the opportunity to wear their football jerseys and lace up their boots.
Club president Gerard Davis said the club is rebuilding its side for competition next year.
“We’re going to play the bye sides from the Southern Inlands, Monaro, and ACT competitions,” he said.
Davis arranged the game against Junee on Saturday.
“It was a friendly game played in good spirits,” Davis said.
Harden and Cootamundra provided Junee with a couple of players to fill their squad, as they were lacking numbers.
Davis was proud of Harden’s discipline as the “old heads” worked alongside a number of young players.
In upcoming weeks the Devils will work on fitness, which has been lagging due to the longevity of the off-season.
