Club president Jason Pollard was unsure of the last time the two sides faced each other; Grenfell compete in the Woodbridge Cup whereas Harden play for the George Tooke Shield.
Grenfell secretary Mark Horne helped organise the event and can’t remember a time in his 25 years with the club that the towns have met, thinking it may even date back to the Maher Cup days.
History aside, Hawks coach Mick Quinn believes the day will be a welcome test for his players.
After an early focus on fitness the past couple of weeks have seen Canberra-based players travelling back one night a week for full-team skills sessions.
“They're all pretty keen to get on with it and get a game under the belt for fitness,” Mick said.
The day will kick off at 4pm as the Hawkettes take on the Girlannas for their first hit out as a leaguetag side.
It is a significant departure from the usual touch football but Hawkettes coach Jason is confident the girls will represent the club well.
From there the boys will kick off at 5pm.
Both games will take place at Roberts Park Oval and there will be a barbecue and bar available for spectators.
The next hit out for the Hawks will be a Nines tournament on Saturday April 18.
