For the past five years Glenn and Ros Stewart have been running the Yass drop-in centre Zac’s Place.
Whilst the initiative has had an immeasurable impact on the community, the couple soon realised the need for emergency housing in rural areas.
In their experience, those who have fallen on hard times often need to leave their town and support network to access crisis housing in Goulburn, Canberra or even Sydney.
This led to the formation of the Give A Man A Home Project, which is about to come to fruition in Baz’s Place, a converted worker’s cottage in Murrumburrah that will be able to house individuals and families for up to six months.
