MORE (wo)man hours at the golf club. Now we are waiting for some able bodied men to move items we could not. The next thing is to find someone who has the appropriate certificate and who is willing to take out their own insurance and is willing and able to take on the culinary efforts at the weekends.

Is there anyone out there?
I have just become aware of the hostage siege in Sydney so I am trying, mostly unsuccessfully, to type this and listen and watch the TV at the same time.
What a terrifying situation it is but, didn’t many of us think such a situation was inevitable?
Hoped it was not, but believed it would happen at some time? Some of us have been called rednecks because we held this very frightening view.
What a shocking disruption to the commercial aspect as well. I believe those not frightened should be. Mr Abbott has just reiterated that “there are people who wish us harm.”

Christmas so close but is anyone in a Christmas mood?
The Christmas raffle of hams and turkeys was held at the golf club on Sunday night with a smaller than usual number of people. The prizes went around very well with no one, I believe, winning more than one item. Some of us course won nothing, guess that means a last minute dash to the butcher or supermarket. I would like to have a ham and tomato sandwich in the back yard, no fuss or bother.
There are people in the Christmas mode as many of the homes have put up their lights and Santa with reindeers. It is worth a short drive around town after dark.

There were not many in the sporting mode with very small numbers over the weekend. Clancy Grigg had a quinella when he won the Friday night par three comp and backed up for another win on Sunday. Peter Curtis was the runner up, Tony Blair won the putting and guess who got the wooden spoon? No other but Dave our handicapper.
Guess he would have gotten a shot back on his chicken run handicap, which is calculated in a very different way to the usual handicapping. I nearly wrote normal handicapping but I really do wonder if it is normal. So with out handicaps, we can be competitive overseas, who is first for a round at St Andrews?

A social/dance/hop will be held at the golf club next weekend with music for dancing by Keys and Strings from Harden. I understand their music is also suitable for the oldies so we can go and listen.
The school’s Year 6 students enjoyed their farewell dinner at the Royal Tara last Friday night.
The craft day last week was a huge success.
The school community has said farewell and thank you to Mrs Regan, who will be finishing her teaching role at the school at the end of term.
Also thank you to Mrs Winterflood who will be back in “a variety of capacities” next year. School resumes on Wednesday, January 28, next year when staff and students will welcome Mrs Morse and Mrs Smith to the staff.
Until next time.
