A VERY warm Monday morning after a very hot weekend. I can see the gardens beginning to wilt despite regular watering and I really wonder at times if it is worth the effort. But when I look at our beautiful roses and the biggest pansy plants I have ever seen I decide, yes, it is worth it.

I think the hot weather probably caused a lot of people to stay indoors (only a few weeks since it was the cold weather keeping them inside) and there was little activity around the village.
Andrew Stadtmiller celebrated his 26th birthday with family and friends - and I reckon he looks about 16.

Friday night golf and bowls attracted only two golfers and 12 bowlers - which was a bit better. John Lee was the golf winner and Don Glover, Ethel Lee and Phillip Walsh took home the meat trays as the successful bowlers.
No activity at all on Saturday and only six golfers turned up to play for the trophies donated by Joe and Camilla Duffy .Peter and Helen Curtis were the winners and Peter was very chuffed that he out drove the rest all the way round.
Club trophies for nine hole events are on next Saturday and Sunday. Susie and Adam McGeachie’s trophies were programmed for Sunday but have been postponed because of the men’s bowls president’s day. Instead they will sponsor the opening of the chicken run the following Sunday, also nine holes.
With the bowls day on next Sunday I would have thought that some of the players would like a bit of a practice game but no one turned up after Friday evening.

A flyer in the mail this morning tells residents that they have “bagged it”. It says “a new fully incorporated Binalong Arts Group supporting Binalong and district arts practitioners and cultural activities” has been formed.
The group extends an invite to a meeting at the hotel on Monday, November 17, to discuss what people would like to see happen in Binalong such as visual arts, music, poetry, drama etc. More information is available from the secretary Vick Royds, president Robyn Sykes and member, Liz Murphy. Membership is open to anyone interested for the very small fee of $2 a year.

The school bulletin also provides us with news of the school activities. The intensive swimming lessons began this morning (Monday) and will continue for the next two weeks.
Because no life guard will be present the Yass Council has asked the school to make sure that only the Binalong students are at the pool at this time.
During g the swimming lessons there will be no active after school communities. This will start again on November 26.

The hocus-pocus walkathon (no one has told me what it is exactly but it looks as though it had something to do with the Halloween activities) so far has raised more than $450 and next week I will be able to tell you who won a prize for the most money raised.
The chickens are now resting comfortably with Honie, Ryan and Beau so we hope they will continue to do their duty and provide a few eggs - the chooks, not Honie, Ryan or Beau.
The book fair will be arranged in the hall this Friday and everyone is invited to inspect the books on display as the more books sold the more money the school will receive for their library.
Band practice will be on after the swimming for the next two weeks. The band members are beginning to think about their performance at the Presentation night.
Congratulations to the star winners last week Clyde Stevens, Alivia Kruger, Amelia Wilson and Ivy Saunders
Until next time. (No snake reports this week but stay alert)
