A weekend of good fun was how former Cronulla player and Daly M Player of the Year Gavin Miller described his visit to Harden on the weekend to help celebrate 40 years of the Hawks and the 20 year anniversary of the Harden Under 18s winning the Weissel Cup premiership.

Three other rugby league greats also attended the weekend’s celebrations, including St George winger Ricky Walford, Balmain winger Larry Corowa, Smiley Johnson and former St George player and chief executive of the Australian Rugby League, Geoff Carr.
Saturday’s rugby league celebrations began with a match between players from the Under 18 premiership winning side and the Harden Masters, which ended in a 4 all draw.
After the main game Gavin Miller said that attending events such this was good fun and that his visit to Harden was special to him.
“This is a bity special to me with my family connections here in Harden,” he said.
His father played for Harden in the 1950s, he said, but was probably better known his tennis abilities.
One of the highlights of the weekend was the naming of the best Harden team over the last 40 years.
The players listed in the team were: Robert Styles, Shane McKellar, Chris Ward, Michael Kennedy, Terry Ricketts, John Shea (CC), Jack Whybrow, Garry Storch, Michael Ricketts, Ted Wilson, Michael Quinn, Jamie Luckie, Garry Barton, Darren Warner, Barry Edwards, Peter Leitner, Robert Anderson, Mark Hardy, Doug Rawlins and Glenn Howe (TNR).
