SPECTATORS witnessed some pretty good performances from bowlers when three club championships triples were played over last weekend. The results were:
Saturday
Rod James, David Bodell and John Peterson defeated John Curtis, David Walker and Warren Chesworth 32/4
Rod and his team took an early lead and were never headed to completely outclass their opponents. John and team tried hard but were never in it.
Sunday
Brian Madden, Tony Madden and Chris Madden defeated Terry Ricketts, David Cassidy and John Spencer 29/19
Brian and his team got away to a huge lead of 26/4 after 13 ends had been played and looked as though they would run away with the match. However over the next seven ends Terry and team got their act together picking up 15 shots to get within seven shots of their opponents with one end to play. Brian and team put them out of their misery when they picked up three shots to go on for an easy win.
Rod James, David Bodell and John Peterson defeated Neil Hines, Bob Owen and Craig Phillis 22/18.
Rod and his team came back from the dead to win this one. Down 17/8 with only five ends to play they looked gone for all money but how things can change in a game of bowls over a course of ends. With three fours over three ends they went from nine behind to three in front at 20/17 with two ends to go.
Neil and his team scored one shot to make it 20/18 with one to play. The end changed several times over the last end but it was Rod, David and John who finished best for a great win.
