THE Harden Shire Council discussed the possible introduction of nose-in parking for the town as part of the town’s streetscape upgrade, when the councillors met yesterday (Wednesday) at a special meeting.
The meeting had been called to discuss the council’s 12-month budget management plan.
Harden mayor Chris Manchester said yesterday that a number of councillors wanted to discuss nose-in parking so it had been put on the agenda, but no decision was expected to be taken on the issue at the meeting.
He said he was concerned that the issue of nose-parking could provide a distraction from the overall $3 million streetscape upgrade.
The next step in the process would see Mr Michael Ewings, the consultant commissioned to design and implement the streetscape upgrade, and members of TEAM Harden meet with council July 6.
From this meeting, recommendations on the streetscape upgrade would then go the July council meeting for a final decision.
