THE NSW Primary Schools Sports Association presented Murrumburrah Public School’s newly appointed assistant principal, Mr Steve Welsh with a Service Award at the PSSA State AFL Championships in Griffith recently.

Mr Welsh has contributed 12 years of continuous service to the game of Australian Football having been PSSA AFL convenor during this period as well as PSSA manager/coach for 11 of these years. He has also taken on roles of championships carnival convenor, AFL runner and twice been the NSWPSSA State AFL selector.

In addition to these invaluable contributions to the game, Mr Welsh has made major contributions to the success of the State Knockout in the Hunter Region for many years.

Outside of school he has been a board member of the Newcastle Black Diamond Committee and been instrumental in coordinating visits by senior AFL clubs to the city of Newcastle for training and promotional purposes.

The staff and students congratulate Mr Welsh on his Service Award and look forward to utilising his expertise in our school to promote a new sport for our students.
