They hold a commanding, and possibly insurmountable, lead of nine shots over Ev Shea and Kevin Hoppe with Maryanne Fitzgerald and Ian Clarke-Bruce one shot further back.
Jeanette and Todd’s 69 nett won the trophies supplied by Tegra and to cap off a successful day they also won the nearest the pin prizes, Todd on the 5th hole and Jeanette on the 10th hole.
Runners-up in the nett division were Lexie and Rick Preston with balls also going to Ev Shea and Kevin Hoppe and Maryanne Fitzgerald and Ian Clarke-Bruce.
The men’s individual stableford event was won by Doug Baker with an impressive 39 points, with our hobbling captain Geoff Bates runner-up with 38 points.
Doug Baker became the first Dempster Cup semi-finalist for this year when he defeated Bernie Parker 3/2 in the only quarter final match played last Saturday.
Last Sunday Eric Kuhn and Maurie Manwaring, David James and Bill Kildea and Craig Filmer and Ron Page competed in the district final of the NSW fourball championship at Cootamundra. Unfortunately none of the Harden pairings was able to progress to the state final at Bonville with David and Bill’s 41 points being the best of the Harden players.
Midweek Veterans
Scoring was red hot during last weeks 12-hole competition when the majority of competitors played below their handicaps.
Garth Webb took advantage of his shrewdly accumulated handicap to return a nett 35 which was the best of the 35 rounds played.
Other good scores which may have been winning scores any other week were the nett 38 of Peter Orr and the nett 40s of Tam Kennedy and Bill Kildea.
Coming up
This Saturday the final round of the 2013 mixed foursomes championship will be played for trophies provided by Ron Oakman.
An individual stroke will also be played by those not competing in the mixed foursomes.
A reminder that the Cootamundra men’s open tournament will be held on Saturday, July 28. As the members from Cootamundra are strong supporters of our open days it would be good to see a number of our members return that support.
