7:30 AM | MORE than $7 million of public money will be spent on the Robertson Oval upgrade but just eight people – including a councillor – turned up to a meeting on the project’s progress last night. Project manager, Wagga City Council’s Jarrod Bryant, said the turnout to public meetings such as last night’s one can bring small groups or larger contingents, but offering the public the opportunity to have their say and stay informed is important for the community.
Raiders 'like to support little towns'

Residents of the Lodge joined in, surrounded by balloons and afternoon treats as they shared fond stories of Ena and her remarkable life so far.

7:00 AM | JUNEE opening bowler Joe Crowder has etched his name in Riverina cricket folklore by pulling off a rare triple hat trick. Playing on Saturday, Crowder took an incredible five wickets in five balls against Gundagai to record only the third known triple hat-trick in cricket history.
Another achievement for Wagga dance teacher’s resume
7:00 AM | BELOVED Wagga dance teacher Anne Reardon has added another impressive achievement to her glowing resume after completing a prestigious international qualification. In 2011 Anne completed her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies with the Royal Academy of Dance in London. It is one of numerous qualifications Anne has completed over the course of her 20 year career, but the certificate she holds in the highest esteem.
Council cops $110,000 bill for burying cable
7:00 AM | SUTHERLAND Shire Council has accused Optus of reneging on an agreement to pay for cables in the Gymea shopping centre upgrade to be put underground.
6:30 AM | NARRANDERA pensioner Bryan Hatherly did just about all he could to avoid falling victim to a dodgy roofing contractor, but in the end he paid $22,528 to a man who then vanished. The contractor, 40-year-old South Australian man Steven Norman, was jailed for six months in Wagga Local Court yesterday after being convicted in his absence in 2010 on one count of obtaining money by deception.
6:30 AM | JUNEE captain-coach Damien Willis yesterday described the recruitment of playmaker Nathan McGowan as a “massive plus” for the Diesels. Willis revealed the signing of McGowan this week had solved a pressing problem on the cusp of the start of Junee’s pre-season campaign.

Village business tasting success
6:30 AM | BUSINESS in Bethungra has begun to boom with the opening of another enterprise in the small village. The Bethungra Tea House is the result of two years work by Gaylene and Garry Crabtree, who bought the old school house with the aim of renovating it and turning it into a tourist attraction. That hard work paid off on Sunday with an estimated 300 people coming through the doors for a cup of coffee, tea or a snack.
